Network architecture diagram, types & FAQs quick note

Network architecture diagram, types & FAQs quick note

The way in which the computers which are connected with a network, exchange data and information between them is network Architecture. Network architecture depends on network size, types of computers, and other features. We will know about the network diagram, types.

Types of Network architecture

Network architecture are two types. These are

  • Client/server network
  • Peer-to-peer network

Client/server network

A client/server network consists of one or more powerful central computers called servers. This server connects other computers or nodes. These are called client. This all architecture is client/server network.

The main task of a server computer is to connect the other client computers on the network with the information they require. However, to use the informations and data the client computers need permission from the server. For this the client computers have the password in the specified account.

The servers on this network can be different types. Such as web server, application server etc. In this network the client computers can be medium quality but the servers should strong.

This network requires a special type of operating systems like LINUX, NOVEL, NetWare, Windows NT etc.

Advantages of client/server network

It is not possible to do anything on this network without the permission of the server. Users need password to use the computer on this network. So important informations and data are safe in this network.

You can extend the network according the users. So many users will be able to use this network without any problem.

The network servers are very strong so the client computers can be medium quality.

Users can backup the data of the computer on this network.

Disadvantages of Client/server network

This network system is quite complex. So it is quite hard to set up.

Since the server controls the network, it affects the entire network when the server fails.

This network always need a skilled system administrator to control the server on this network.

Special operating system such as Windows NT require to support this network.

Peer-to-peer network

Each computer on peer-to-peer network acts as a server and a client server both because there is no central computer usage in this network.

In this network the users choose a computer to receive data or to send data. All computers of this network have same capabilities. No more than 10 computer can be used on this network.

Advantages of Peer-to-peer network

This network is very simple and it is very easy to use.

There is no special server on this network. So no powerful computer is needed.

This network does not require any special operating system. This network works with the common operating system like Windows 7 and Windows 10.

Disadvantages of Peer-to-peer network

The number of users in this network is not more than 10.

As there is no central computer on this network, there is no data protection system. So data are not safe.

There is no system for data backup on this network.

FAQs

What are the different types of network architecture?

There are two types of network architecture. These are Client/server network and Peer-to-peer network.

What is a network architecture diagram?

This is a presentation of network architecture. It helps to briefly understand the network diagrams.

What is client/server application?

A client/server application is a bit of programming that sudden spikes in demand for a client PC and makes solicitations to a remote server.

Is ping a client server application?

No ping is not a client server application.

What are three characteristics of a peer to peer network?

  • This network is very simple and it is very easy to use.
  • This network does not require any special operating system. This network works with the common operating system like Windows 7 and Windows 10.
